RTG’s touring arm offers new packages

RTG revealed that the money will be used for the procurement of luxury tour buses and nine other vehicles used for transfers.

TOUR operator Heritage Expeditions Africa (HEXA) has launched several new tour packages to offer tourists a chance to explore Zimbabwe’s natural wonders, historical landmarks and vibrant cities.

HEXA, the tour operating arm of the hospitality firm, Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG), recently acquired a new fleet of luxury buses, mini buses and cars as it seeks to increase its offerings to the domestic market.

The money used to purchase the vehicles came from a US$615 000 capitalisation programme that RTG set aside to ensure a sustainable profitability trajectory for the company.

RTG revealed that the money will be used for the procurement of luxury tour buses and nine other vehicles used for transfers.

Following a media tour of the Epworth Balancing Rocks and Mukuvisi Woodlands in Harare using part of HEXA’s new fleet of vehicles on Wednesday, RTG said the group was seeking to make its tour operator a leader in the business.

“Heritage Expeditions Africa, a domestic tour operations arm of Zimbabwe’s leading hotel chain Rainbow Tourism Group, has exciting tour packages to explore the wonders of Zimbabwe,” the group said in a statement.

“From stunning natural wonders to historical landmarks and vibrant cities, Zimbabwe has something to offer every traveller seeking an unforgettable refreshing experience.

“The packages include the Iqhawe package, a nine-day tour which will take travellers to Kadoma, Matopos, Hwange and Victoria Falls; Dzimbahwe package covers the Eastern Highlands, Mutare, Great Zimbabwe, Matopos, Bulawayo, Hwange and Victoria Falls in 12 days.”

The Zimbabwe Explorer package, the group added, would cover a 17-day pristine tour covering Nyanga, Vumba, Lowveld, Masvingo, Bulawayo, Matopos, Hwange and Victoria Falls.

“All three tours will take travellers on a journey that will leave them in awe of Zimbabwe’s natural beauty and abundant wildlife as travellers will visit the iconic Victoria Falls and see the wildlife paradise Hwange National Park,” RTG said.

“The tour also includes a venture into the vibrant cities of Harare and Bulawayo, where travellers will discover the cultural heritage, dynamic energy and warm hospitality that defines Zimbabwean urban life.”

Last year, HEXA revenues grew by 1 101% to ZWL$13,3 billion from ZWL$1,1 billion earned in the prior year.

“In addition to the remarkable sights and experiences, the tours allow guests to delve into the local cuisine, savouring the flavours of Zimbabwean delicacies and indulging in the vibrant culinary scene,” RTG said.

RTG revealed that it accessed a loan facility of US$3 million from FBC Bank, with an interest rate of 12,8%.

The facility was used to revamp HEXA’s fleet.

It was secured with notarial general covering bond including a cession of book debts for US$550 300.

Hence, the capitalisation programme was part of the FBC Bank loan.

RTG expects HEXA, which is now fully capitalised, to contribute significantly to the group’s overall revenues for the current financial year.
