Charambas’ surprise at Olinda Marowa Victory launch

The Ndinouya Baba hitmaker told Standard Style that having the Charambas gracing the event and fans from most parts of England to witness the album launch was a dream come true that left her in tears

INCREDIBLY-GIFTED gospel vocalist Olinda Marowa recently proved at the launch of her sixth album in the UK why she has established herself as a musician who is deeply connected to spiritual teachings underlying her songs.

Produced at Lyton Studios, the nine-track album aptly entitled Victorious was launched on May 4 at Gleadless Methodist Church Hall in Sheffield.

Apart from her gripping lyrics, powerful voice and imposing stage presence, the icing on the cake at the event was the surprise appearance of her mentors — Charles and Olivia Charamba — who have made profound influence on local gospel music.

But it is the track Life of Testimonies that is set to be a hit that transcends standard local gospel music while providing a platform for faith, hope, and perseverance.

The song is testimony to Marowa’s trademark — her ability to express her challenges and  victories  through divine intervention in her life has proved why she has made her mark in the genre. She inspires hope and divine empowerment to listeners.

The Ndinouya Baba hitmaker told Standard Style that having the Charambas gracing the event and fans from most parts of England to witness the album launch was a dream come true that left her in tears.

"The Charambas have impacted me a lot in my life, I’ve learnt so much from them musically spiritually and how they carry themselves is of great inspiration," she said.

“I was in awe, seeing them entering the auditorium and at some point couldn’t believe my eyes, but it was what it was; they came."

She thanked fellow musicians Yeukai Washe and Timothy Ngwenya as well as Lloyd Tevedzai for the huge sacrifice they made in taking them there."

Other artistes who supported her on Victorious were Bethany Ngolomi who features on the track Kana Vanhu Vangu and Kudzi Nyakudya on the song Zarura.

“The theme of the album is inspiration, I’ve realised that in life we go through different phases and seasons, some are disheartening and discouraging, resulting in us deciding to give up and lose faith.

“However, I’ve acknowledged that regardless of any downfalls, challenges, insecurities and persecutions we face, Victory is inevitable.

“We will eventually obtain victory and it’s all about being intentional that we are victorious in every aspect of our lives.

Marowa cited Corinthians 15:57  which says “But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ,” as the anchor verse of her latest project.
