WARRIORS midfielder Ovidy Karuru could finally end his long search for a new club following reports in Iran that he is closing in on a move to Persian Gulf Pro League side Gol Gohar Sirjan.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who has previously played in France and Belgium, has been without a club since parting ways with relegated South African side Black Leopards at the end of last season.
His failure to find a new home was main reason for his omission for the Warriors squad for the recently concluded 2022 World Cup qualification campaign.
The experienced midfielder could finally breathe some new life in his faltering career after media reports from Tehran that his edging closer to a potentially lucrative move to Persian Gulf Pro League, also known as Iran Pro League.
Tasnim News Agency is a private news agency in Iran first broke the news about Karuru’s potential move to Middle East.
“Zimbabwean midfielder Ovidy Obvious Karuru has been linked with a move to Iranian top-flight club Gol Gohar. The 32-year-old midfielder has most recently played in South African team Black Leopards. Karuru has traveled to Sirjan to participate in Gol Gohar medical test. Gabonese midfielder Eric Bocoum has already joined Gol Gohar,” read a report by the Tasnim News Agency last week.
Gol Gohar is currently perched at the top of the log in Persian Gulf Pro League after the first eight matches.

Karuru has had a rough time, in the last two years, as he had to move to three teams in South Africa.
The former Masvingo United and Gunners player was one of the players shipped out by South African side Black Leopards, following the team’s relegation, to the GladAfrica Championship last season.
He had also was offloaded by AmaZulu in 2019, Stellenbosch in 2020 before a six-month flirtation with Black Leopards.
After making 25 appearances, and scoring seven goals for Black Leopards in all competitions, between December last year and June 2021, Karuru found himself jobless again.
Karuru, who captained the Warriors at the COSAFA Cup in South Africa five months ago, and a move to Iran could revive his fading hopes of a featuring at next month’s Africa Cup of Nations finals in Cameroon.
