
Three of the country’s top female golfers Miriam Masiya, Batsirai Tilowakuti and Tracy Humbira are set to fly the country’s flag at the Southern Region All Africa Challenge Trophy (SR-AACT) which tees off on March 31 at the Windhoek Country Club and Casino in Namibia.
A total of six countries namely South Africa, Lesotho, Eswatini, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Zambia will lock horns to compete for top honours.
Angola is yet to confirm its participation and could be the seventh nation at the event.
The tournament will take place from 31 March to 4 April.
Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union (ZLGU) announced the team in a statement on their social media platforms yesterday.
“The Southern Region All Africa Challenge Trophy (SR-AACT) is back again! This year, the tournament will be held in Namibia.
“Our top champion players — Batsirai Tilowakuti, Miriam Masiya, and Tracy Humbira — will travel alongside Zimbabwe Ladies Golf Union President Olivia Nyamwanza to participate in the tournament from March 30 to April 4, 2025.
“After intensive training with both coach Simon Murungweni and ZLGU National Coach Jessie Nyakatawa, the team is well prepared to face its opponents. Go well, Team Zim and bring the trophy home!
“The Namibian Ladies Amateur Open Stroke Play will take place immediately after the SR-AACT. Ladies who are interested in following and supporting our champions are all welcome,” ZLGU said.
In form teenage golf star Masiya, at only 15 years old, is expected to lead the country to glory having already bagged the Manicaland Amateur Golf Tournament and the Julius Robinson Golf Tournament this year.
Veteran golfer Tilowakuti brings her experience on the international stage having won before.
She is slowly coming back to her best form after she won the Dugmore Trophy and was runner-up at the Manicaland Amateur Golf Tournament and the Julius Robinson Golf Tournament.
