Nomads Mashonaland gave local children cancer relief organisation, Kidzcan a major boost after they handed over a vehicle and foodstuffs from proceeds raised from fundraising initiatives.

The funds that were used to purchase the vehicle were raised from the Nomads Mashonaland Annual Golf Day which was held at Royal Harare Golf Club late last year.

Last year, Nomads Mashonaland organised a number of fundraising initiatives to support four organisations targetted for assistance, Matthew Rusike Children's Home, BS Leon Trust, Island Hospice and Healthcare, as well as Kidzcan.

The Nomads handed over the vehicle and goods to Kidzcan on World Cancer Day which falls on February 4th.

“Every year we are trying to do something for charity and you are one of the beneficiaries.

"I am pleased that we have gotten to this stage where we are handing the vehicle to you. We know the job that you do and as Kidzcan how vital you are to the children. I am just glad that were able to play our small part in assisting you for what you are doing in the community," Nomads Mashonaland Captain Enos Mbofana said at the handover ceremony.

"Apart from the vehicle we have got a 100 bags of rice and some cans. The cans were collected throughout the year from our members.

"We are confident that you will put everything to good use,” Mbofana said.

Kidzcan were thrilled by the donation and took to social media to thank their benefactors.

“Wheels of Hope! "We're overwhelmed with gratitude to The Nomads: Mashonaland Golf Club for their incredible donation of a car to KidzCan Zimbabwe. This generous gift will help us in our mission of saving lives, and bringing them closer to healing and hope.

"Thank you for your kindness and support," Kidzcan posted.

Mbofana was accompanied by past Captain Chakanyuka Nziradzemhuka, Tendai Gotora, and Fidelis Pfende from Peaktime Motors.

This year’s Charity Golf Day is scheduled to take place on October 5 at the Royal Harare Golf Club.
