Triathlon Zimbabwe (TZ) successfully held its second annual golf fundraiser day last week, raising funds for their young athletes taking part in international competitions last week.

The event was held on February 7 at the Borrowdale Brook Golf Club Harare.

The purpose of the fundraising was to mobilise funds for the three upcoming events which will take place on March 15 in Johannesburg South Africa, March 22 in Swakopmund Namibia, and April 5 in Gqeberha South Africa.

Without revealing the figure TZ said they managed to achieve the set targets in terms of funds needed.

“I am thrilled that we managed to reach a milestone of funds for Triathlon Zimbabwe’s Youth and Junior athletes traveling to South Africa next month. This remarkable achievement will go a long way in supporting TZ development and we are incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together,” TZ technical officer Roa Botha said.

“As we celebrate this success, let us also remember the true purpose of this fundraiser. It is about more than just a game of golf, it is about coming together as a community to make a positive impact in the lives of others.”

“To all golfers who took part, thank you for your sportsmanship, and enthusiasm and for making the day so enjoyable. Whether you hit a hole in one or spent some quality time in the rough, your presence on the course  brought energy and excitement to the event,” she said.

It was a four-ball alliance game, which means it was competed in teams of four.

Local businesses and individuals also participated in the event.

“To our incredible sponsors and donors, thank you for believing in our cause and for your generous contributions. Your support has made a significant impact and we are deeply grateful for your commitment to making a difference,” Botha added. TZ held the inaugural golf fundraiser last year and one of the country’s top triathletes Andie Kuipers, who is based in the United States of America, took part in the event.

With the success of this event, Triathlon Zimbabwe is looking forward to many more successful fundraisers in the future.
