TelOne and Chicken Inn settled for a share of spoils in a pulsating Castle Lager Premier Soccer League match at Bata stadium yesterday.

Washington Navaya got the goal for TelOne, his first since switching from Highlanders. Chicken Inn's Malvin Hwata continued with his rich vein of form to grab the equaliser for the Gamecocks.

This was Herbert Maruwa's first game in charge of the Wi-FI Boys since his appointment last week. And Maruwa was pleased with the result, picking a point on his first match.

“I am very happy with the performance in my first day as coach having trained with the boys for only two days. I am very impressed,” said Maruwa.

“This is a very good result for us coming from two back-to-back defeats. I am very confident we will bounce back."

Navaya thrust TelOne into the lead after 23 minutes heading the ball home from a curling cross whipped in by Frackson Bushiri.

Chicken Inn responded seven minutes later through Hwata with an easy tap-in after goalie Matripples Muleya had spilled a low shot from Brian Muza.

Chicken Inn coach Joey Antipas said: “I thought we played against a TelOne side that had been boosted by the coming in of a new coach, you know how it is when a new coach comes in.

“I thought it was two points dropped, but you know a point away from home is not bad in this league, so we will take the point."
