A reckless pursuit of superiority could backfire, leaving all of humanity vulnerable to the unintended consequences of advanced technologies.
The crux of the matter lies in OpenAI’s approach to balancing innovation with responsibility. Its proposals reflect a belief that the benefits of AI will outweigh its risks, provided those risks are addressed eventually.
This “fix-it-later” mindset, however, is fraught with danger. The history of technology is filled with cautionary tales — from the environmental consequences of industrialisation to the ethical lapses of social media platforms.
In each case, the failure to anticipate and mitigate risks at the outset led to crises that could have been avoided with more deliberate planning.

Or should we advocate for a more thoughtful approach that prioritises safety, ethics, and inclusivity? AI’s transformative potential is undeniable.
