Ziscosteel boss scoops prestigious award

RENOWNED engineer and Ziscosteel board chairperson Martin Manuhwa was conferred the prestigious 2025 Global Excellency and Leadership Award by the Fame Times International Excellence Awards (FTIEA) during a ceremony held in Dubai on April 5.

Manuhwa, who is also the vice president of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and sits on the board of a number of local and international organisations was recognised by FTIEA as “a leader in global engineering initiatives.”

FTIEA was established in 2020 to honour prominent organisations and personalities for their respected achievements and contribution towards social, economic and corporate fields globally.

Manuhwa’s citation highlighted his sterling achievements in the field of engineering globally.

The citation reads: “Eng. Martin Manuhwa is a Registered Professional Engineer from Zimbabwe, currently serving as a Vice President of the World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) and Chair of its Capacity Building Technical Standing Committee since 2019.

“A leader in global engineering initiatives, he is a founding member of the Asia-Africa-Pacific Accord (AAP) Engineering Council and a Past President of the Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO). Additionally, he has served as the Chairman of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe (ECZ) and the President of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE).”

Manuhwa, who has been bestowed numerous awards for his outstanding achievements by various international organisations is also the “Founding President of the Southern African Federation of Engineering Organizations (SAFEO) and a founding member of the World Council of Civil Engineers, where he leads the Education, Training, and Capacity Building Committee.”

He is also an Affiliate Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) since 2007.

“He is the Managing Consultant at the Zimbabwe Africa Infrastructure Development Group (ZAIDG), a firm specializing in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) and consulting engineering,” the citation further reads.

“Through ZAIDG, he collaborates with Hatch Africa (Pty) Ltd to deliver infrastructure solutions in energy, mining, and the public sector. His firm has been a technical advisor to Zimbabwe Power Company (ZPC) on major projects.”

Manuhwa is a fellow of eminent organisations including the African Scientific Institute (ASI) and the ASEAN Academy of Engineering and Technology.

His research interests include energy infrastructure and big data analytics.
