Blessed Mhlanga’s bail application postponed to Wednesday.

Mhlanga’s lawyer, Chris Mhike argued against the matter being heard in a specialized anti-corruption court since the offence has nothing to do with graft.

HARARE, Mar. 10 (NewsDay Live) – Heart & Soul TV (HStv) head of news Blessed Mhlanga will spend more time in remand prison after his bail application at the High Court this afternoon was moved to Wednesday.

High Court judge, Justice Gibson Mandaza, who said he wanted time to look into the submissions, also denied an application by the State to move the case to a specialised anti-corruption court. It had argued that this was because the original case was heard in a Regional Court (anti-corruption court) at the Magistrates Court last week.

Mhlanga’s lawyer, Chris Mhike argued against the matter being heard in a specialized anti-corruption court since the offence has nothing to do with graft.

The ruling means that Mhlanga will spend another two nights in remand prison, where he has been since he was arrested two weeks ago on charges of inciting violence.

Mhlanga was arrested on February 24 for covering Press conferences by expelled Zanu PF central committee member Blessed “Bombshell” Geza, who demanded President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s resignation for alleged corruption, incompetence and misgovernance.

He was denied bail by magistrate Farai Gwitima on claims that he was likely to interfere with witnesses.

Mhike is arguing that there are no compelling reasons for his continued detention.
