
IN a ground-breaking move, the Institute of Internal Auditors Zimbabwe (IIAZ) has made history by appointing Mayepudzo Mbira as its first-ever female chief executive officer (CEO), marking a significant milestone in the institute's legacy.
Her appointment is effective January 1, 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome Mbira as our new CEO. Her proven track record makes her the ideal candidate to lead the Institute into a new era of growth and success,” the organisation said in a statement on Wednesday.
“We are confident that Mbira's appointment will build upon our strong foundation and drive the IIAZ towards continued excellence.”
Mbira has been an integral part of the IIAZ for over a decade, serving as an administrator and most recently as the acting CEO, according to the statement.
In her new role, Mbira will focus on advancing the Institute's strategic goals, fostering professional development, and enhancing the value and relevance of internal auditing in Zimbabwe.
IIAZ said her exemplary leadership and dedication have been evident throughout her tenure. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce with Special Honours in Accounting and a Master's degree in Applied Accounting, highlighting her strong academic background and commitment to excellence.
“The IIAZ is confident that her leadership will inspire positive change and contribute significantly to the growth of the internal auditing profession in Zimbabwe.”
