A SECURITY guard stationed at ZB Bank Sanyati branch in Mashonaland West province reportedly robbed his clients of US$134 000 and R38 800 under “very suspicious” circumstances on Saturday.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the heist but said not much detail could be divulged at the moment. “Investigations in this case are on but we cannot say much. The circumstances are very suspicious but about $134 000 was reportedly taken during that robbery,” said Nyathi.

It is, however, understood that the guard identified as Samson Mahohoma employed by Peace Security used his service firearm to pounce on the Sanyati ZB Bank manager Rufaro Lugundiya and staff counting cash in one of the rooms.

He allegedly ordered them to lie down at gunpoint before stashing his loot in a sack, stripping his victims of their phones and locking them in that room before he fled the scene.

The matter is being investigated under ZRP Sanyati reference RRB 5954912.
