THE Government says it will assist families of victims of Beitbridge's horror bus accident which claimed nine lives and injured 39, some seriously.
Government also urged public transport operators to insure their vehicles to cover their passengers in the event of such mishaps.
At the same time Government appealed to communities settled along highways and other areas in general to take care of their animals, some of them responsible for road carnage, by safeguarding road servitude fences.
Speaking after touring the accident scene and visiting those still admitted at Beitbridge Hospital Matabeleland South Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Evelyn Ndlovu said: "The Government will take care of all funeral expenses and we will try and help as much we can to take care of those injured who are being treated
"But I call on public transport operators to insure their vehicles to cover their passengers in the event of such accidents. Business people in Beitbridge may also chip in and help with water so the injured stay hydrated in this heat,l.
"Villagers must look after their animals to avoid this unnecessary loss of life. Some people are breadwinners winners and all of a sudden they will not be going home anymore
"Why must our animals be found o the roads? I will speak to different departments to have campaign to show people the importance of servitude fences."
Vandals have clipped off long spans of servitude fences which protect animals and humans alike," she said.
