French School holds open day

The Open Day and International Day will be an opportunity for parents of prospective students to discover the school’s unique offerings.

The French School of Harare, a leading international institution established in 1983, is inviting parents to explore its vibrant campus during an open day to be held tomorrow at the school’s premises in Vainona.

The Open Day and International Day will be an opportunity for parents of prospective students to discover the school’s unique offerings. The event takes place as the French embassy in Harare welcomes the new French ambassador to Zimbabwe, Paul-Bertrand Barets.

”It’s a unique way to give your child the chance to live à la française (the French way) and follow the French curriculum while learning English and another foreign language of their choice in junior high and high school, to allow them to grow and learn in a multicultural environment that is open to the world,” the school headmistress Laetitia Cibrario told IndependentXtra.

“It is a piece of French culture and education.”

The school is certified by the French state and adheres to the French national curriculum and school calendar. It embodies a rich cultural diversity, with over 25 nationalities represented among the 123 students out of which only 22% are French.

According to the school, this multicultural environment fosters global understanding and friendship, making it an ideal setting for children to grow and thrive.

Parents will discover six key advantages that set the school apart. These include quality teaching in French and English – unique in Zimbabwe – structured learning in a supportive family environment, membership in the largest network of international schools and a wide range of extracurricular activities such as tennis, swimming, pottery, theatre, hip-hop, chess and choir, among others.

The school also boasts state-of-the-art educational facilities, including a computer room, science lab, library and interactive digital boards.

During the event, visitors can take guided campus tours, meet dedicated teachers and staff and enjoy traditional meals from around the world which parents will share. They will also learn about enrolment opportunities for the 2025 academic year.

Last year, a Zimbabwean student achieved outstanding A-level results and secured a spot to study law in France, exemplifying the school’s commitment to academic excellence and global opportunities.
