THE Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (Icaz) has moved to adopt emerging technologies to help improve service delivery and contribute to the country’s economic development.

In a statement celebrating 106 years of its existence, the organisation said it remained a world class centre of excellence to drive economic development.

“At Icaz, we continue to uphold our values of honesty, responsibility and integrity as we embrace the future which we believe is undoubtedly intertwined with technology,” the statement read in part.“

To maintain its pole position, Icaz as an institution and its training offices, have moved to adopt emerging technologies to enhance service offering to all its stakeholders and to contribute even more substantially to Zimbabwe’s economic prosperity.

“As we embrace technology, we have aligned our strategy to ensure we focus on increasing membership numbers to meet the growing demand; enhance our global positioning and partnerships by securing mutually beneficial regional and international agreements with other professional accounting organisations.”

To achieve this, the organisation said employee engagement had been enhanced to create a pervasive high performance culture with a competitive compensation structure which sets it as the place to be for high performers. Icaz said it was working on a roadmap to develop and integrate artificial intelligence, big data, robotics and cloud computing as it strove for operational excellence aspiring for a paperless organisation, which would leave digital footprints to be followed by those to come.

“As technology continues to evolve, the institute and its members will increasingly focus on interpreting complex data, offering strategic insights and making data-driven decisions,” it said.

“These competencies have become imperative in all our training to ensure that the Icaz member is a strategic resource in any organisation. We will continue to implement advanced digital tools for financial analysis, auditing and reporting to ensure our processes are streamlined to improve accuracy of data and decisions and reduce the risk of errors.

“Cloud-based solutions become an imperative to facilitate real-time collaboration and enhance data accessibility from anywhere, and enhance security systems.”

As it celebrates this milestone, Icaz said it was investing in training programmes and resources to equip its members with the skills needed to leverage on these technologies effectively through its accredited training offices.
