Insurance sector urged to invest in AI

ZIMBABWE’S insurance industry should invest in artificial intelligence (AI) in order to operate smoothly in the future, Alpha Media Holdings (AMH) Group Editorial Advisory Board of Trustees chairperson has said. 

In his remarks made at the 2023 Zimbabwe Independent Insurance Survey Awards Breakfast meeting held in Harare on Wednesday, Muchadeyi Masunda, the chairman of the board, said insurance sector bears many responsibilities in the economy, including risk taking, bearing and investments.

"For the insurance industry to thrive while going hand in hand with development objectives, its prosperity heavily relies in its ability to adapt to technological changes and adapt new innovation such as artificial intelligence to operate smoothly in the future, " he said. 

The Zimbabwe Independent Insurance Survey is an annual review of the local insurance industry that provides an analytical overview and expert opinion on the performance of the country's insurance industry.

The media house collaborated with the National Social Security Authority (NSSA) to host the insurance survey awards. 

This year the survey ran under the theme: “From Surviving to Thriving. Repositioning for vision 2030 - Building a world class insurance and pensions industry”.
