Harare couple robbed of US$19k

Thembinkosi Matutu (47) and Batsirai Husti (21) were remanded in custody to August 6.

TWO Harare men appeared before agistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa facing allegations of robbing a couple over US$19 000.

Thembinkosi Matutu (47) and Batsirai Husti (21) were remanded in custody to August 6.

They were advised to approach the High Court for bail.

They are represented by Kudakwashe Munyoro.

Prosecutors on December 20 2023, the suspects forcibly entered the couples residence armed with machetes and pistols.

They allegedly hit the complainants several times.

They went on to steal an iPhone pro max 13 and cash amounting to US$16 000.

The duo also allegedly stole some jewellery worth US$2 500.

Investigations carried out by the CID Homicide Harare team led to the arrest of Matutu in Epworth who implicated Hutsi.
