AFTER a two-month long sabbatical for renovations, Harare's premier entertainment venue, Mashwede Village, reopened its doors this week to a packed house of eager fun-seekers.
The reopening kicked off with a "season 2" launch featuring China Chemadzimai, hosted by the Zimdancehall duo Levelz and Fantan.
Last Friday night, the joint hosted Friday Lite Nights XL, headlined by ExQ and Nutty O, courtesy of Castle Lite.
Saturday night saw the return of the Ghetto Craft party, and tonight, Mashede Village will host crowds for a Super Sunday relaunch.
DJ Iroq of Mashwede Village explained that the closure was necessary to give the venue a fresh look and prepare for the summer season.
"We closed in early June to revamp the place and give it a new feel. Winter was the ideal time for renovations as nightlife is slower during this period,” he said.
“We are introducing daytime entertainment, with artists coming in during the afternoon. We have also added a beer garden with car wash facilities and extra bars for convenience."
Iroq invited patrons to come in large numbers, saying: “We are the number one one-stop fun joint. Thursday nights are for Chillspot Records, Friday nights will see urban grooves nights with yesteryear legends, Saturday is for Ghetto Craft, and Sunday is a lifestyle Super Sunday.”
