THE Zimbabwe Republic Police is tight lipped over Sandra Ndebele’s impounded Toyota GD6 vehicle amid reports that it was smuggled into the country.
Sources said Ndebele’s vehicle was impounded last month when she (Ndebele) failed to provide documentation on how the car was imported into the country.
Ndebele did not respond to Standard Style questions on the matter.
Contacted for comment, Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube was evasive.
“I’m not saying it didn't happen, but I'm not aware of the issue,” he said.
“We will investigate further.”
Similarly, national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi offered no clarification.
“I am not aware of the issue on a national level,” he said.

The incident came after Ndebele received a car from Zanu PF.
In February, she was given a Mercedes Benz GLE400d worth US$155 000 by controversial businessman Wicknell Chivayo.
A number of musicians and other Zanu PF praise-singers have also received vehicles from Chivayo who has grabbed headlines for alleged corrupt dealings.
Ndebele was elected as a councillor for ward 20 in Bulawayo during by elections that were held December 2023.
The artist rose to fame in 2003 when she released her debut album Tshaya Tshaya the same year she was nominated for the Zimbabwe Music awards (ZIMA).
Ndebele's political career started in 2021 when she was appointed as the representative for young women in economic development. However, the role she took made her receive a lot of backlash for joining the ruling party.
