AMERICAN rapper Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II, is expected to touch down at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport tomorrow for his maiden performance in Zimbabwe.

The multi-Grammy-nominated rapper’s show will on the very same day light up the Harare International Conference Centre in his first appearance in the country.

Rick Ross, who is also a songwriter and producer, is one of the few big American artistes to perform in Zimbabwe in recent years.

At the concert, Rick Ross will share the stage with top South African rapper Nasty C, born Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo who will also arrive on the concert day.

Speaking to NewsDay Life & Style, Dumisani Chihota from concert organisers ROAR Entertainment, said Rick Ross would arrive in the early hours of the day for preparations and rehearsals.

“We expect to have Rick Ross here in Zimbabwe on November 18 (tomorrow) and the other supporting act from South Africa, Nasty C,” he said, adding that preparations were already taking place at the venue with rehearsals starting for local acts.

Chihota said the VVIP tickets that divided opinion and was described as “ridiculously” high priced had already sold out.

“Our premium VVIP tables that were going for US$3 000, US$ 4 000 and US$5 000 are sold out and due to high numbers of people that were continuously requesting to have premium tables, we then introduced US$800 tables which will cater for five people and comes with three Bellaire champagne bottles plus a good view,” Chihota explained.

Besides the premium, the general ticket for the concert is pegged at US$35 with a special discount offered to students.

“The general tickets have been selling well, we also noted that not every student will have the capacity to purchase tickets for US$35 so we understood their request in terms of reducing the price because we want them to come and experience the show hence, we had to specifically reduce the price to US$20 for students.”

On the local front, dancehall singer Nutty O, hip-hop artiste Takura and Holy 10 will also share the stage with Rick Ross, while wheel spinners, DJ King Her and DJ Rimo will be on the decks alongside MC Tatts and MC Cut.
